Understand the four main reasons behind the fear of public speaking (Glossophobia). May be it is not as scary as you think it is

If you can’t communicate and talk to other people and get across your ideas, you’re giving up your potential.Warren Buffett

Many ideas have changed this world towards better. Have you ever thought that those ideas might have died in the minds of the people many years ago who haven't believed in them and most importantly never shared with the world?

In the competitive world today, your potential is most often judged by the degree of acceptance of your ideas. To spread your thoughts or ideas as is, you got to explain and/or exchange them with your target audience. Any such situation would primarily challenge your public speaking skills. To avoid such challenges is to remain in the comfort zone, where there is 0% of growth.

As many as 75% of the world's population today are reluctant to speak in public and most often this fear gets control over the mind and the body causing anxiety and panic.

What matters? the idea or the language: The primary reason people assume it to be the language to express their idea, which is mostly English. Whereas, the audience is more focused and interested in knowing the ideas rather than judging the speaker's language fluency unless it is a contest on language skills or vocabulary.

Power of Language skills: The importance of idea does not underestimate the power of language skills which demands rigorous practice and can be mastered with various proven techniques. With the right choice of words, your ideas penetrate more deeper into the minds of the audience.

Knowledge on the subject: The base for the ideas or thoughts is the right knowledge about the subject. Fear of facing the target audience worsen if you are not certain about what you would like to convey. Hence, it is equally important that you do lots of homework on your subject and how you would like to present them.

Presentation: Structuring an idea also increases the probability of its acceptance. An idea might fail if not well received in spite of the right language and subject. Therefore, it is very much important to understand the background of the audience and present it in the simplest way they would understand it. When your audience resonates with your idea, it gives you more confidence in expressing yourself.

Even the great orators were once dominated by the fright of public speaking on stage.
